Punjab Education Department on Thursday decided to shift 28 senior lecturers of 11 Government In-Service Training Centres (GIST) as Principals against vacant posts in the Government Senior Training Centres.
“The PES officers, serving as senior lecturers in the Government In-Service Training Centers, do not have much work on their hands as the training programme is already in progress in the DIETs,” said the state Education Minister Aruna Chaudhary.
She said that many Government Senior Secondary Schools in the State are functioning sans Principals which explains why the decision has been taken to shift 28 senior lecturers in the vacant schools.
Giving more details, Chaudhary said that four senior lecturers would be shifted as Principals in Amritsar, three each in Bathinda, Jalandhar, ludhiana and Patiala with two each in Faridkot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Ropar and Sangrur.
Chaudhary said that these 28 Senior lecturers would be shifted against vacant posts in accordance with their choice so as to ensure the smooth running of the schools.
“Whereas the Punjab Government is fully committed to provide quality education to the students, it is also equally committed to better utilization of the current staff by shifting those officers or employees against vacant posts who are serving in the additional posts,” she added.
