Punjab docs to stage protest over pay at DHS office on May 3

To protest against the lethargic attitude of the Punjab Health Department towards the demands of the Government doctors, the Punjab Civil Medical Services’ Association (PCMSA) has decided to hold protest outside its head office on May 3.

The state body of the PCMSA, the only body of Government doctors across the State, said that despite many requests and memorandums, the Director Health Services and the State Government have not been solving the issues of the Government doctors.

PCMSA chief patron Dr Ranjit Singh Butter, state president Dr Gagandeep Singh Moga and press secretary Dr Raj Kumar, in a joint statement, said that they had met Principal Secretary, Finance Minister, DHS and many other designators but to no avail.

“We had requested health officials to implement full pay scale for newly appointed doctors, restarting of NPA to PG doctors, additional PG increments to specialist doctors and conveyance allowance,” they said.

They added, “The principal secretary had issued a notification few days ago depriving the doctors the right chairmanship of the Rogi Kalyan Samities (RKS). The SDM and the DCs have been designated as chairmen to the RKS. This is against the rights of the doctor, who is head of the concerned hospital. We are against these orders and we will oppose such move in the protest on May 3.”
