To give due recognition to the soldiers of the Indian freedom struggle, Punjab Government has decided to prepare the directory of the freedom fighters of the State.
The decision was taken in a meeting, presided over by Cabinet Minister Fauja Singh Sarari on Thursday, with the Government’s commitment towards welfare of freedom fighters.
It was decided that for ensuring proper implementation of schemes related to the freedom fighters, the meticulous and consolidated handy information of the freedom fighters is needed to compile, hence the directory of freedom fighters will be prepared.
Reviewing the functioning of the Department of Freedom Fighters and Defence Services, the Minister instructed that a directory should be compiled of all the living freedom fighters of Punjab. He also directed to send letters to various departments for filling all vacant posts reserved for freedom fighters at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet Minister directed to explore the feasibility for implementing cashless healthcare schemes for the treatment of freedom fighters besides ensuring the implementation of the policies and schemes for them in a true spirit.
