Punjab contemplates to set up spl courts for Punjabi Diaspora

Published on:

Punjab will soon have more special courts exclusively for Punjabi Diaspora to redress their issues. The move came after the special court, which had been established at Jalandhar, has proved a boon for the non-resident Indians (NRIs) from Punjab. Punjab NRI Affairs Minister Tota Singh said that the state government was contemplating to establish more special courts for the NRIs to be setup in different districts of the state.

“The state is fully committed to resolve the issues pertaining to Punjabi Diaspora by taking such steps. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal is personally reviewing the status of welfare initiatives being taken for the facilitation of Punjabi Diaspora,” he said, adding that a meeting to discuss their issues would be presided over by Sukhbir Badal on Tuesday.

Singh informed that Punjab was also contemplating to bring amendments in land records manual or land Revenue Act to simplify the procedure of partition of land. “The issue of NRIs as proclaimed offender in various offences would also be taken with the Deputy Chief Minister so that needful steps could be initiated in this regard. The issue of girdawaris of NRIs will also be discussed to facilitate Punjabi Diaspora by issuing necessary instructions to District Revenue Officials,” he said.
