Known for her resemblance with her grandmother and late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi may be seen campaigning for the Congress in the forthcoming Assembly polls in Punjab.
Punjab congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday said that he would invite Priyanka Gandhi to address election rallies in Punjab as “she is a crowd-puller and liked by all”.
The former Chief Minister’s assertion came in response to a media query while talking to the reporters after an interactive session with the party workers.
The State Congress chief said that the party should contest the 2017 Assembly elections in Punjab “on its own”.
He claimed that the Congress was getting a “tremendous” response from the public and that party workers were full of enthusiasm.
However, he added that the final decision on contesting polls would be taken by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi.
