Punjab Cong demands resignation of Sukhbir

Published on:

Punjab Congress on Thursday demanded the resignation of the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, who is also Home Minister, and the State Director general of Police (DGP) Sumedh Singh Saini for the broad daylight killing of gangster Sukha Kahlwan while in police custody. The party also demanded a judicial probe into the matter.

“Junior Badal, in his capacity as Home Minister, and DGP Saini must own responsibility for this broad daylight gruesome and horrendous killing that brings to fore complete failure of the police force,” said party spokesperson Sukhpal Khaira. He said that the Congress also demanded “a time-bound judicial inquiry to unearth many doubtful angles of the killing”. “It brings out multiple failures of the government. It also shows that the rule of constitution has broken down in Punjab, which has been replaced by Jungle-Raj, anarchy and lawlessness,” he alleged.
