Punjab CM to hold Sangat Darshan for border districts

Forgetting Patiala, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday announced to hold Sangat Darshan “exclusively for border districts” of the State.

It was more than a month before when Badal, on the day of results of byelections to Patiala and Talwandi Sabo Assembly segments, had announced that he would undertake his sangat darshan programmes to both the constituencies, despite the SAD-BJP alliance’s defeat in Patiala.

At the time, while his scheduled programme was announced for Talwandi Sabo, it was said that schedule for Patiala would be announced later — which has never come till date.

Patiala urban Assembly constituency was retained by Congress with former sitting MlA Captain Amarinder Singh’s wife Preneet Kaur emerging victorious.

Currently holding his sangat darshan programme in Attari Assembly segment, Badal would soon conduct an exclusive open house in the villages of State’s border districts to boost the pace of overall development there.

Making this announcement in Amritsar on Sunday, Badal said that he was well aware of the problems faced by the brave people of border districts. “These Sangat Darshans would facilitate the Government in solving their long pending problems,” he said.

Badal said that the State Government would soon chalk out a multi-pronged strategy to ensure the overall development of the border districts in the State. He also assured the people that the State Government would leave no stone unturned to develop the border districts in the State.

He also announced that he would once again take up the matter regarding hardships faced by the people residing along with the border fence with the Union Government.

“I have been persistently raising this issue with the successive Governments at the Centre, so as to bail out the people residing in this area… Concerted efforts would be made in the coming time to bail out the people from this crisis,” he said.
