Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, inspecting the ongoing work at Halwara Civil Air terminal by paying a surprise visit on Thursday, asked the officers to expedite the work so that it is completed at the earliest.
The Chief Minister directed the officers to complete the work in a time-bound manner. The State Government has already released Rs 50 crore for early completion of work at Civil Air Terminal, he said.
Laying emphasis on the early completion of the project, Mann said that the project will further put Punjab on the map of air connectivity and save time, money, and energy of the commuters.
“The project’s timely completion is the need of hour to give impetus to state’s economic growth,” said Mann bemoaning that the work on this ambitious project has been hanging fire for the past few months. “The project was to be completed by March 31, 2022…It has already skipped its deadline due to callousness of previous governments...After assuming the charge of office, the government put the work in a fast-track mode,” he added.
Asking the executing agency to complete the work in the coming six months, he said that any sort of compromise in quality of work will not be tolerated. “I will personally monitor the day-to-day progress of the work and any sort of inordinate delay is unwarranted and undesirable,” he added.
