Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Wednesday exhorted the people to celebrate festival of lights in an eco-friendly manner, without damaging the environment in any way.
Capt Amarinder greeted the people with the hope that Diwali festival would be the harbinger of progress and prosperity for one and all.
At the same time, Capt Amarinder said that let us also remember those tens of thousands of our soldiers on this auspicious occasion who protect our borders day and night to enable us to enjoy our festivities in peace.
He also urged the people to spare a thought for the poor who could not afford to revel in such celebrations and hoped that this Diwali would wipe out the darkness in their lives.
As a symbol of the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and hope over despair, Diwali underlines the importance of harmony and peace, said Capt Amarinder, calling upon all people to celebrate Diwali in a spirit of amity and goodwill.
Meanwhile, Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore, along with the first lady Alka Singh Badnore, extended heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people in general and the officers and employees of Raj Bhawan in particular.
Bandore, in his greetings, said: “The spiritual significance of Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and victory of good over evil. The joyous occasion brings with it hope of better, brighter and prosperous tomorrow. It strengthens the bonds of trust, love and compassion among family members and friends.”
“It is also the only annual occasion that we, the global Indian community, irrespective of our caste, creed religion and nationality, celebrate the idea of being Indian,” he said.
He urged the people to celebrate the festival of lights in the usual fervour and gaiety. He appealed all the employees to strengthen the bonds of mutual love and harmony within the Raj Bhawan and work with greater commitment and honesty.
