Punjab Government has directed all specialists, including Civil Surgeons and Senior Medical Officers posted on non-clinical posts, to perform clinical duties on every Saturday.
They will also perform scheduled surgeries on fixed days in the Government Hospitals, announced State Health and Family Welfare Minister Brahm Mohindra while delivering keynote address at the Civil Surgeon’s review meeting held at the state Directorate Health Services.
Announcing another significant service delivery programme for the new born babies, Mohindra said that henceforth, Aadhar card facilities would be extended to the new borns at the premises of hospitals itself.
“Health Department would extend this service as being the nodal agency with the coordination of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI),” said the Minister while handing over 300 tablets to the trained field officer for the purpose.
Another pride moment for the Health Department was the conferring of National Award to two District Hospitals at Amritsar and Pathankot for achieving high ranks in the Quality Assurance Standards.
Mohindra, while congratulating the concerned Civil Surgeons for their sheer hardwork and relentless service, said that they are hopeful that Civil Hospitals at Nawanshahr and Rajpura would soon register claim for this prestigious award.
He said that to achieve the award of ‘National Quality Assurance Certificate’ for any hospital is not easy but Punjab could do this for its two hospitals - the Jallianwala Bagh Martyr’s Memorial (JBMM) District Hospital Amritsar (200 bedded) and District Hospital Pathankot (179 bedded) underwent national assessment by three empanelled External Assessors who came from different parts of India and this happened after the State assessment.
Centre has awarded special grant of Rs 18 lakh to Pathankot Civil Hospital and Rs 15.50 lakh Amritsar Civil Hospital. Mohindra announced Rs 2 lakh each to both these hospitals.
