Ahead the crucial meeting of the Punjab Cabinet on Friday, two of the Ministers wanted the Chief Minister’s Chief Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar to stay away. In fact, the two Ministers has attended the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s luncheon meeting on a pre condition that the “officer” would not be present in the meeting.
The pre-condition was put by the state’s Jails and Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Water Resources Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria. As a result, Suresh Kumar did not attend the Chief Minister’s luncheon meeting with his nine Cabinet colleagues.
Notably, Randhawa has not been happy with the Chief Minister after the Punjab and Haryana’ adverse ruling in the Kotkapura firing case. In fact, he had also offered his written resignation to the Chief Minister after the discussion over the High Court order turned ugly.
The State Cabinet is expected to take up a long list of agendas in its meeting on Friday. The previous meeting, which was expected to see the acceptance of Punjab’s Pay Commission’s report, concluded after taking up just two agendas.
It is believed that the government may also take a decision regarding regularizing the services of all contractual employees of Municipal Bodies.
Besides, the Congress-led State Government, which is now focusing its attention on the issues concerning the state’s Dalit population, has set up a panel with Finance Minister
Manpreet Badal as its member to resolve the same.
