The saffron brigade in Punjab is all set to launch a public contact programme, along with a series of other events, on the completion of four years of the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre and ahead the 2019 lok Sabha elections.

The contact programme would be launched on May 28 and would continue till June 11 to propagate the achievements of the Narendra Modi government through district level meetings and door-to-door campaigns.

The decision was taken in the party’s high level meeting, presided over by the state unit chief and Rajya Sabha MP Shwait Malik, and attended by party office bearers, district presidents and core committee members. Party’s sate affairs in-charge Prabhat Jha, and Union Minister Vijay Sampla too participated.

The meeting was aimed primarily at reviewing the work done by the party since Malik took over as the state unit president.

Malik, after the meeting, said that during the programme, the people would be made aware of the Namo mobile application and would also be asked to join it.

Parallel to the public contact programme, the party has also decided to organize other programmes to mobilize the cadre.

Giving details, a BJP leader said that on May 27, Budhijivi Samelan will be held at Pathankot under the leadership of former state party chief and former MlA Ashwani Sharma. Besides, a Samarsatta Sampark would be organized at mandal level on June 3 under the leadership of party’s state vice-president Narender Parmar.

Gram Sabha Samelan will also be organized at a district level from May 27 to June 3 under the leadership of party’s state vice-president Sukhwant Singh Dhanola. A Sawachta Abhiyan will also be held at mandal level on June 10 under the leadership of BJP state vice-president Umesh Shakar.

The party’s youth wing, Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha, will also organize a bike rally at district level on June 11 under the leadership of Sunny Sharma, while a Varishat Nagrik Sampark Samelan will also be held at district level on June 5 under the leadership of Dhanpat Siyag.

Taking on the Congress, Malik said: “Congress has formed the government in Punjab through false promises and the BJP would expose it in front of the people,” said Malik while exhorting those attending the meeting and also the parry cadre to start preparing for the 2019 parliamentary polls.

He said that the party has started a movement by giving a slogan of ‘Punjab Bachao, Congress Bhagao’.

“Today, Punjab is in the paws of the most worthless government. Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh cheated the people on the name of removing unemployment. But yes, some families have definitely benefited by this action including Navjot Singh Sidhu, and the family of late Beant Singh and his team of OSDs,” quipped Malik.

At the same time, Malik praised the Congress MP Pratap Singh Bajwa for raising his voice against his own Government for being worthless, but on the other hand, pointed that Congress legislators resigned because they have not been included in the Cabinet and not for Punjab’s issues.
