Punjab BJP leaders observe day long fast

Punjab’s saffron brigade on Thursday observed a day-long fast across the state as a part of party’s nationwide protest against the Congress’ “divisive politics”.

Punjab BJP president Shwait Malik led the party at Amritsar, along with the Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and party’s senior leadership besides hundreds of supporters, by sitting on fast at Bhandri bridge from 11 am to 5 pm.

The fast was observed as a symbolic protest to "expose the height of cheap politics" by the Congress for political gains.

“Congress, by hijacking the recently concluded budget session, has projected a new low of Indian politics to the world. For their cheap political gains, they want to tarnish the image of world’s largest democracy,” said Malik. He said that BJP has launched nationwide protest to expose Congress’ divisive and negativity for not letting both the Houses function during recent budget session of the Parliament.
