Punjab BJP asks Bajwa to demonstrate outside Congress Bhawan

Punjab unit of Bhartiya Janta Party on Sunday asked the State Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa to demonstrate outside the Congress Bhawan against killings of thousands of Sikhs in 1984 riots.

Opposing the demonstration by Bajwa outside Gujarat Bhawan in New Delhi against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for discrimination against Sikh farmers in Gujarat, State BJP president Kamal Sharma dubbed this move as “unwarranted and uncalled for”.

“As Modi has already assured that not even a single farmer will be deprived of his land in Gujarat, and the statement has also been made by the farmer association in Gujarat that they are fully confident about the assurance of Modi, this demonstration by Bajwa is an attempt to take cheap political advantages.”said Sharma

“Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had also assured the farmers in Gujarat that they will not be thrown out of Gujarat,” he added. State BJP chief said that in the light of above assurances, it was totally unwarranted that any demonstration should be held.

“This demonstration does not hold any strength as no farmer from Gujarat participated in it. Bajwa should take up the indiscrimination done by the Central Government against the farmers of Punjab,” added Sharma.

He said that instead of demonstrating outside Gujarat Bhawan, Bajwa should demonstrate outside Congress Bhawan against 1984 Delhi riots in which thousands of Sikhs were killed and not even a single leader involved in these riots has been convicted yet.
