Punjab asks its depts to appoint CISO

Published on:

Alarmed over possible cyber security threats, Punjab Government on Monday issued instructions to its all departments to immediately designate Chief Information Security Officers (CISO) with immediate effect, and convey his name to the Directorate of Governance Reforms.

The move was initiated after the Central Government’s National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC) — a national nodal agency in respect of critical information infrastructure — has issued directions to all state governments to designate Chief Information Security Officers in all departments.

The CISOs have been assigned the job of identifying critical information infrastructure and further conduct vulnerability, threat, risk analysis and applying cyber security controls to mitigate the same.

All departments have been directed to send the name and designations of designated CSIOs.
