Punjab asked to release DA dues

Punjab Congress on Saturday hailed the decision of Central Government to enhance the Dearness Allowance (DA) of its 80 lakh employees but said it was ironical that SAD-BJP Government in Punjab had not yet released the DA installments of its employees due from January and July this year.

In a statement, State Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa demanded immediate release of DA installments of Punjab employees with enhancement on the pattern of central government. He said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal were making false claims on economic position.

“If the financial position is healthy why Punjab government is not able to pay the DA and Pay Commission arrears of employees”, he asked. Bajwa alleged that SAD-BJP government has stopped the payment of GPF and other retirement benefits of employees and salaries were no paid on time.
