Punjab Government’s Technical Education Department on Tuesday appointed special supervisors for the evaluation and upgradation of training standard in all private and Government ITIs of the State.
In all, the Department has appointed 12 officers for the supervision of Government ITIs and 30 field officers for private ITIs, said State Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister Anil Joshi. He said that it has been noticed that some affiliated institutions have shifted their campus to another place. “These institutions have been issuing certificates to those students who had not attended the classes. The certificates are being issued only on the basis of proxy attendance,” he added.
Joshi said that it has also been noticed that due to the paucity of staff in these institutions, students faces difficulty to pursue their courses.
“The Department has now decided to monitor and evaluate the working of these institutions. In this regard, strict instructions have been issued to all institutions to upscale their academic atmosphere,” said the Minister. He also made it clear that any institution found flouting the norms of DGET would be severely dealt with.
