The Punjab Government on Thursday issued directions to the District Administrations to appeal to the general public to use the fireworks responsibly and with utmost restraint as per the Supreme Court guidelines.
The State Government has also issued directions to the State Education Department and Higher Education Department to strictly implement the directions of the apex court regarding educating the public about ill effects of fireworks thorough various means available to them.
Official spokesperson said that the directions have been issued to all districts and departments to use all means to educate the public about ill-effects of fireworks and crackers.
They have been told to organise group discussions, seminars, exhibitions, street plays to generate awareness among general public.
The Education Department and Higher Education Department have been issued directions to issue advisory to all schools and colleges to encourage teachers to educate students not to buy or use fireworks.
Spokesperson said that it was imperative for all of us to join hands in this noble drive to save pollution of environment by fireworks and crackers and every section of the society should join hands in this venture.
