Aam Aadmi Party on Monday accused Capt Amarinder Singh led Congress Government in Punjab and Narendra Modi-led Central Government for pollution caused due to stubble burning in the state.
AAP MPs Bhagwant Mann and Prof Sadhu Singh, in a joint statement, said that just to hide his failure in finding any permanent solution of using waste of paddy so that the farmers are not forced to burn it, Capt Amarinder is doing cheap politics over it.
“The National Green Tribunal had directed the State and Central Governments to raise funds for paddy waste management but both have run away from their responsibilities,” they said.
Mann said that Centre and State Governments have been harassing the farmers in the name of Green Tribunal guidelines, but have not done their share of responsibility. “Farmers are not willing to burn stubble, but finding no help from the government, they are left with no other option,” he said.
Criticizing Capt Amarinder on the issue of accusing AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, AAP MPs said that Kejriwal had directly criticized the Centre and Punjab Government for paddy waste mess and he even met Union Agriculture Minister to release fund to Punjab for the purpose but Capt Amarinder rather than appreciating his efforts is stooping to cheap politics over the issue.
AAP MPs said that they will raise the issue in the upcoming session of Lok Sabha. “Already indebted farmers of the state cannot bear the expense of Rs 6,000 per acre so the government has to give them the solution. They also demanded to add Rs 200 per quintal in the MSP of paddy for the purpose of paddy waste management,” they said.
