P T Usha, India’s most successful sprinter and multiple gold medal winner in Asian Games, was in the Tricity on Wednesday articulating the importance of athletics and urging kids to participate in Speedstar Season 2.
“Speedstar”, a nationwide talent hunt for the young flying Indian has been launched by Kooh Sports, a new age Sports Company set up to get kids of today to embrace sport and more importantly a healthier lifestyle. PT Usha, the Brand Ambassador of the nationwide talent hunt, addressed the kids of Swami Ram Tiratha School (Phase 4, Sector 59, Mohali) to participate in the Speedstar Season 2 Heats scheduled on 8th December 2013, at Tau Devi lal Stadium, Panchkula.
Mentored by Sharon Hannan (world renowned Australian coach and ex-coach of london Olympics 2012 Gold medalist Sally Pearson), Speedstar is held under the aegis of Athletics Federation of India. Speedstar Season 2 will identify 8 of the fastest boys and girls under 4 age categories (Under 10, 12, 14, 16) in the country. In this edition, it will conduct the event across 11 cities- Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, lucknow, Jalandhar, Pune, Goa, Mumbai, Cochin, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
The winners from each city will be called for the finale to be held on February 9 next year in Mumbai. The final winners of Speedstar season 2 will get a chance to train in Australia with Sharon Hannan. Griffith University will host the winners and also conduct master classes for them.
