Aiming to provide reliable quality of power to its consumers across Punjab, the State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has augmented 10 new 66 KV sub stations in the last one and a half month.
“In some areas, where feeders are too long or overloaded affecting the quality of supply to the consumers, PSPCL has taken a serious note of the issue and directions have been issued to complete the task of new sub-station on war footing,” said the PSPCL spokesperson adding that the Corporation would also improve the voltage of concerned areas too.
During August 2019, the Corporation has dedicated five new sub-stations — the historic town of Sultanpur Lodhi, Urban Estate Gurdaspur, Lohgarh Village (Moga), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bathinda, and Sanauri Adda of Patiala city — to the people of the Punjab spending about Rs 20 crores on the same.
Besides, the capacity of seven more sub-stations in the state has been upgraded, so that no emergency power cut has to be imposed during the peak summer due to the lack of capacity for power houses in these areas.
To regulate the voltage system at the power houses, capacitor bank will be installed, and as and where required, new capacitor bank will be set up in the next two months, said the spokesperson.
Recently in September, 66 kV sub-station Attowal (Hoshiarpur) has been augmented by replacing 12.5 MVA power TF with 20MVA Transformer, Dharampura augmented by replacing 8 MVA transformer with 20 MVA and Mubarakpur(Patiala) augmented by replacing 20MVA transformer with 31.5 MVA capacity.
Secondly, new 66 kV Substation Vihla Teja (Gurdaspur) and additional 10-12.5 MVA transformers have been installed at 66 kV Substations at Rode (Faridkot) and Banwala Anuka (Mukarsar), said the spokesperson adding that in all, about Rs 30 crore have been spent by PSPCL on new the new substations and augmentation of existing ones.
