Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Sunday announced projects worth crores of rupees for Gurgaon. These include a new bus-stand and workshop on 83 acres and a Justice Tower to be built over 7.5 acres at a cost of Rs75 crore.

Addressing a public meeting in the village of Kakrola-Bhangrola in Gurgaon, Manohar lal said that Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh, had made the demand for constituting Gurgaon Development Authority. Since the matter is in the court, the government would bring in a new Bill to remove this hindrance, said he.

He announced that a university would be set up in the village of Kakrola, girls’ college in Manesar, hospital in Badshahpur, sports stadia in villages Bhangrola and Khatola, flyover at Pataudi Chowk, multi-level parking in Gurgaon, cultural centres in Sector 4 and 53, Gurgaon, and a community centre in Wazirabad village. Besides, the Municipal Corporation, Gurgaon, would construct a panchayat bhawan and office of the Excise and Taxation Department and undertake modernisation of the Gurgaon railway station.

The Chief Minister also announced that Rs45 crore would be spent on different development works in all the Assembly constituencies falling in Gurgaon district. These include Rs15 crore for Badshahpur and Rs10 crore each for Gurgaon, Pataudi and Sohna constituencies. Development works to the tune of Rs471 crore were being carried out in Gurgaon and the surrounding areas.

He said that the state budget had been increased from Rs69,000 crore to Rs88,000 crore, under which each Assembly constituency would get more than Rs200 crore for development works.

Reiterating the State Government’s policy of ‘zero tolerance towards corruption’, the Chief Minister said that corruption was rampant during the tenures of previous Governments, which would spend funds in a wrong manner and fix expenditure on a monthly basis. However, the present Government has made provision for social auditing of the development works under which a team would be constituted for giving approvals, said he.

Expressing grief over the recent unrest in the State during Jat quota stir, the Chief Minister said that the Government had released compensation of up to Rs1 lakh to small traders within one week.

Speaking on the occasion, Rao Narbir Singh said that Gurgaon was the biggest contributor to the State Treasury, but no new college or university had been announced for the district during the last 10 years. Development works are being carried out for the last 18 months and Rs980 crore had been approved for making three intersections in Gurgaon signal-free, said he.

Earlier, speaking at a panel discussion on ‘Innovation – the need of the hour in schools’ in Gurgaon, the Chief Minister said that a Teachers Training Programme had been launched to bring about improvement in the quality of education in the rural areas and the process of recruitment of teachers to regular posts was underway.

He said that a new transfer policy has been framed for the teachers and residential accommodation will be arranged for such teachers as are posted far away from their home region. Teachers posted in the remote areas would also be provided incentives, said he.

The Chief Minister said that with a view to fulfilling the vision of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi,  Haryana Government is working to provide quality education to the students according to their age and capacity. Assessment of the working of Government teachers is being done and those who perform well would be felicitated, he added.
