The UT Administration on Friday directed the private Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), Government Industrial Departments and other Industries representatives to get their institutes registered as vocational training providers.
The directions were issued to put in place a focused and synergised action plan for ITIs.
While reviewing the functioning of ITIs in a meeting, KK Sharma, Adviser to the Administrator directed that private vocational training providers should be associated as per Government of India guidelines so that the target population increases and society at large benefits.”
At present, 600 students were provided training under skill development initiative scheme of the Centre in government institutions in addition to the formal courses being run by them.
Sharma observed that although the target for year 2013-14 is 2350 trainees, it should go up to at least 8000 trainees. Reviewing the action taken in the year 2012-13 and the action plan for the year 2013-14, he directed that practices of the best ITIs in India should be implemented after visiting them and ITIs here should also have smart class-rooms to make the training and learning better.
He observed that the instructors should also regularly upgrade their knowledge for better performance through trainings.
Meanwhile, new trades in government ITI for women are proposed to be introduced for the session starting from August 2013. These new trades include trade of Marketing Executive, Human Resource Executive and Finance Executive.
The UT Secretary Technical Education informed that after a detailed skill gap survey, four new courses are being introduced by the IMC Society in ITI for women i.e. Mobile Application Development(IOS), Search Engine Optimisation, Data Base Oracle Basics, Infrastructure Management System (Hard Ware and Networking).
