Countering the BJP’s allegation of Congress candidate getting poor response, the party on Monday claimed that their candidate is getting enormous response and large number of people are coming out in public rallies of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and his wife Pratibha Singh.
With the filing of nomination of both the BJP and Congress candidates, poll campaign is gradually heating up with allegations and counter-allegations in different public rallies.
leader of Opposition, Prem Kumar Dhumal had lashed out at Congress Government saying in past five months it has become tired Government and after bye-election it will fall.
Congress State spokesperson Naresh Chouhan said BJP leaders are day dreaming and current Congress Government will last its full five year term. “BJP leaders are still in the State of shock over Assembly poll debacle and are issuing baseless comments,” said Chouhan.
“In past five years, BJP Government only looked after the development of the few and neglected the upper Himachal areas and tribal areas while in contrary Congress Government took the
challenge very effectively and in five months entire road conditions in upper Himachal areas have improved,” added Chouhan.
Meanwhile, Congress has put entire Government machinery into the parliamentary bye-poll clearly indicating the stakes in question. All the cabinet ministers and chief parliamentary secretaries and senior party leaders have been entrusted poll duties and deployed in all the 17 assembly constituencies of Mandi parliamentary constituency.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh who himself had taken the mantle of campaigning in his hand is campaigning in full fledged manner. On Monday, he held a rally at Manali, a seat which is with BJP and asked the people to support the Congress candidate for all round development of the State.
Congress is strongly banking on tribal areas of Chamba, Kullu, lahaul and Spiti and neighbhouring areas which are stronghold of Congress and in most of the past elections had comes in rescue of the party. BJP on other hand has also gone all out against the Congress and deployed its top leaders to break the fortress of Congress and ensure the loss of CM’s wife, which will be an indicator of his unpopularity.
