Prakash Singh panel report not accurate? 'No questions asked'

A day after Prakash Singh panel report was made public, those rebuked or named in the report including BJP MP Raj Kumar Saini, Hisar MP Dushyant Singh Chautala, IAS Anita Yadav among others have claimed that the panel did not seek reply from them.

Reacting to his name figuring in the Prakash Singh Committee report for allegedly instigating violence during the Jat quota stir, BJP Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini has alleged that he was neither questioned by the committee nor any clarification was sought on the allegations levelled against him.

“I feel pained over the unverified serious allegations,” said he while talking to the mediapersons.

The Prakash Singh Committee has come down heavily on Raj Kumar Saini and other leaders such as Roshan lal Arya, Manoj Duhan and Sandeep Kalkal for delivering inflammatory speeches before and after the Jat agitation.

The Committee was constituted by Haryana Government to probe the lapses into the official response during February’s Jat stir that turned violent in the state.

On the other hand, Hisar MP and senior Indian National lok Dal (INlD) leader, Dushyant Chautala has threatened to sue the committee members for wrongly referring him for a statement, which he never made. The committee has mentioned excerpts from Chautala's speech made before a gathering of Jat community in 2015-16.

IAS Anita Yadav, Jhajjar deputy commissioner, who was referred as the most non-performing DC in the report alleged that she was not, sought any reply by the Committee. She also termed the report as baseless.

Meanwhile, Kiran Choudhry, leader of the Haryana Congress legislature Party, has lambasted the BJP led State Government for the paralysis that plagued the state administration during the Jat reservation agitation and demanded “prompt and deterrent action” against top officials and officers named in the report.

Prakash Singh, former  DGP for Uttar Pradesh and Assam, in its 451-page report on violence during the Jat quota stir, said that the "administrative paralysis" had gripped the State and the "highest functionaries in the Government failed to show the kind of guidance, direction and control that is expected in a crisis of such proportions".

A total of 30 persons were killed and more than 300 were injured during the quota agitation in the state. Property worth hundreds of crores of rupees was also damaged and destroyed in the mayhem.

The opposition has also demanded that the 37 pages report about the intelligence wing submitted by the retired IPS should also be made public.
