The beginning of marriage season has started sending jitters to the political parties in fray for lok Sabha elections as on the day of polling on May 7, astrologers have predicted a major lagna, an auspicious occasion for solemnising weddings.
Political parties are also anticipating dip in voting percentage if the people refrain themselves from voting in order to attend the wedding ceremonies of their near and dear ones. Riding high on the Modi wave, BJP is asking voters to cast their votes in first half of the day and then attend the marriage ceremonies.
The party is appealing to the people that their votes could change the future of country and State and trying to make them understand that it was one of the most important duties of the people of the State.
“I had asked the astrologers about the forecast on May 7. The astrologers replied that the date was highly favourable for solemnising weddings. At the same time, match makers forecast that the day was highly auspicious for the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi,” said Prem Kumar Dhumal at a rally in Theog of Shimla parliamentary constituency.
“I request all of you to first cast your vote in first half of the day and you can attend the marriages functions in the evening hours,” said Dhumal. He later admitted that BJP has asked all of its workers and leaders to mobilise voters to the cast their ballots before attending the weddings.
Similarly, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) has also asked its party workers to ensure
good turnout of voters apprehending that due to the wedding season, people may not come out of their house to attend the marriage functions in the evening.
“We have asked party workers to visit door and door and tell the people to vote to the party and ensure their presence at the polling booths,” said Congress spokesperson Naresh Chauhan.
In the hilly rural areas of Himachal Pradesh, habitation is not dense but sparse due to the topography and people have to travel a lot as a result they leave early to the venues to catch the moment on time.
