Poll results to lay foundation of 'BJP-free' India: Jakhar

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president and lok Sabha MP Sunil Jakhar on Monday said that the results of Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat Vidhan Sabha elections would lay the foundation of ‘BJP-free’ India.

Jakhar, addressing the gatherings during the election campaign of Congress candidate from Shimla (Rural) constituency Vikramaditya Singh, said that sensing the inevitable defeat of his party, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his entire coterie was hanging around in Himachal Pradesh.

BJP had misled the people to form government at the Centre in 2014, he said adding that it has not even fulfilled a single promise made to the people. “PM had been befooling the people with his oratory skills but has failed to deliver,” he added.

Jakhar said that the ill-conceived policies like demonetization and GST have proved fatal for the people and have slowed down the pace of economy. He said that not even a single penny of black money was recovered from this step but the people suffered a lot.

“The faulty GST has ruined the country’s economy. The decrease in GDP is a testimony to the fact that the country’s growth has slowed down due to which industries are shutting down,” said Jakhar adding that the direct effect of it was that job opportunities were squeezing and unemployment was increasing.

Slamming the BJP for vitiating the atmosphere in hilly state popularly known as ‘Dev Bhoomi’, Jakhar said that the BJP leaders should not stoop too low just for the sake of political interests.

“The venomous speeches of the BJP leaders, including the Prime Minister, have exposed the negativity inside the BJP leadership,” he said.
