POA welcomes creation of corpus fund for sportspersons in distress

Punjab Olympic Association on Friday hailed the Punjab Government’s decision for approving creation of a corpus fund for the welfare of sportspersons in distress and crisis.“I thank Punjab Deputy Chief Minister for giving in principal approval to create a corpus fund for the welfare of sports stars in distress and crisis... the decisions taken by Sukhbir Badal will strengthen sports culture in the state,” said Punjab Olympic Association president and Rajya Sabha member Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa.

Dhindsa said that POA general body had chalked out a programme for lifting sports’ standard in the state and a meeting was held with Deputy Chief Minister for giving it concrete shape. “Deputy Chief Minister accepted our major demands under which inter-district games would be held…It was also decided to give jobs to 125 top sportspersons of the state,” he said.
