Haryana Police on Saturday said it has cracked a kidnapping case in few hours after the arrest of two from Gurugram in which key accused himself plotted his abduction with help of his minor friend and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore from his father.

A spokesman of the Police Department identified the arrested accused as Ujjawal, a resident of Akbarpur Barota, district Sonipat. "After faking his own kidnapping, the boy changed the number plate of his car and had checked into a hotel in Sector-15, Gurugram. The Police recovered and arrested him from the hotel," the spokesman said.

Ujjawal's  father Mukesh Kumar, lodged a complaint with Sonipat Police that he received a voice recording message on his mobile from his son’s number in which a person claimed that Ujjawal was abducted and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore for his release. Caller also threatened to kill the boy if he did not pay the ransom. He informed that Ujjawal left in a Mahendra XUV for Sonipat Court.

Acting swiftly, Rohtak Range, IG Sandeep Khirwar and SP Sonipat Pratiksha Godara constituted nine teams and directed them to recover the boy at the earliest.

The teams, dispatched to crack the case, immediately swung into action after tracing the location and calls and recovered the boy along with his minor friend from Gurugram.

During preliminary interrogation, Ujjawal confessed that he himself plotted his own kidnapping alongwith his friend, wherein father was tricked into believing that his son was abducted and in a grave trouble. He had to pay the ransom of Rs 5 crore to save him. Police said further investigations are on.
