Plantation drive launched in Haryana

Haryana Forests Minister, Rao Narbir Singh on Thursday said a plantation drive has been launched under the ‘Har Ghar Hariyali-Haryana Ki Khushhali’ scheme of the State Government during the ongoing monsoon season. In a statement issued, Rao Narbir urged the people to ensure maximum participation of girls in the plantation drive during the auspicious month of ‘Shravan’.

"Not only, we should plant more trees, but we should also take care of them like our children only then we would be able to save their existence," he added.

He said that the Department has decided to conduct physical verification of trees planted during ‘Van Mahotsav’ as it has been noticed that irregularities were conducted in plantation during the tenure of previous State Governments. The minister said that to enhance social status of the girls, a programme known as ‘Beti Ka Salam Rashtra Ke Naam’ has been started on the occasion of Independence Day this year. Under this programme, the National Flag was hoisted by the most educated girl of the village.
