ECI ANNOUNCES POSTAL BALLOT FACILITY FOR MEDIAPERSONS
Chandigarh: Considering the long-pending demand, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has allowed mediapersons, authorised by ECI, to exercise their franchise using postal ballot facility. Earlier, the Commission had allowed 80-year-old and above voters, Persons with Disability (more than 40 percent) and COVID-19 positive patients to cast their vote via postal ballots.
This is in addition to the already existing Absentee Voters categories, who on account of being on duty on the day of poll in the current general election to Legislative Assembly of Punjab, won’t be able to present in their respective polling station. Punjab’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr S Karuna Raju said that any absentee voter, wishing to vote by postal ballot, has to make an application to the Returning Officer in Form-12D giving all requisite particulars and get application verified by the Nodal Officer appointed by the organisation concerned. Dr Raju also clarified that any voter, opting for postal ballot facility, won’t be able to cast normal vote at Polling Station.
AAP ACCUSES CONG OF GIVING GAVE JOBS TO RELATIVES OF MLAs, MINISTERS IN “VIDHAN SABHA” RECRUITMENT; DEMANDS CBI PROBE
Mohali: Accusing the Congress-led Punjab Government for a scam in the recruitment process of Punjab Assembly employees, AAP’s senior leader Harjot Singh Bains demanded a CBI probe into the matter. “If AAP forms the government in Punjab, a CBI inquiry will be conducted into the matter. Those people from whom money was taken will be returned to them. Besides, all the relatives of the leaders who have been recruited, will also be investigated,” said Bains.
Substantiating his claims with documentary evidence, Bains said that instead of giving jobs to eligible youth or candidates, Congress Government recruited children, kins, and close relatives of MLAs and Ministers. “Instead of Punjabis, people from outside Punjab were also given jobs by ignoring the rules, which is a complete betrayal of the youth of Punjab,” he alleged while releasing the list of recruitments made in the Secretariat (Vidhan Sabha) in the last five years.
