The murder mystery of 11-year-old girl Pinki, who was found strangulated to death in a jute sack at furniture market on December 1, last year has been solved with the arrest of two people from Punjab.
Both the accused Anirudh alias Jigar (21) and Raj Kumar alias Raja (19), natives of Faizabad of Uttar Pradesh, were apprehended by Punjab police in connection with a murder case of a security guard of an ATM at Dera Bassi. They were also wanted for one ATM fraud at Chandigarh,” said Senior Superintendent of Chandigarh police, Sukhchain Singh Gill.
Both the accused Jigar and Raja, were brought to Chandigarh in connection with the ATM fraud case. During further questioning by UT police, they also admitted of kidnapping a minor girl who was later murdered by them in Chandigarh in the month of December, added Gill.
Sources in cyber crime cell said Jigar and Raja, both drug addicts, have a criminal background and the two were out on bail when the girl was kidnapped and found murdered. The accused had kidnapped the victim from Palsora and held her hostage in the forest area for the next three days and also repeatedly sexually assaulted her prior to killing, added sources.
Investigating the case, the Cyber crime cell of UT police also traced out the location of mobile of both the accused, which was found at the same forest area where Pinki was kept hostage by the them.
Both Raja and Jigar were produced in the district court, where they were sent for three day police remand.
Pinki, an 11-year-old student of class VI, who went missing since November 27, was recovered in a jute sack from the forest area of furniture market on December 1, 2013.
The post-mortem examination of deceased confirmed the possibility of sexual assault prior before the murder of victim. The girl was strangulated to death with a plastic rope, which was found in the jute sack, in which body was packed.
