Pindari village renamed as Pandu Pindara

Continuing with its name-changing spree, Haryana Government has now decided to change the name of village ‘Pindari’ in district Jind to ‘Pandu Pindara’. The Chief Minister Manohar lal has approved a proposal in this regard, said an official spokesman.

He said that the gram panchayat, Pindari had requested that the name of village is famous as ‘Pandu Pindara’ not only in ancient mythology, Mahabharata, Bhagwat and Granth but also registered in the Indian Railway Administration and other documents and Haryana Government Departments. Only in the Revenue Department, the name of the village is registered as Pindari. Therefore, the villagers had requested that with a view to maintain the dignity of tirath ‘Pandu Pindara’ as well as village and also to get rid of this confusion, the name of village ‘Pindari’ should be changed to ‘Pandu Pindara’, said the spokesman.

Earlier this year,  the Manohar lal Khattar Government had  announced to rename ‘Ballabhgarh’ as ‘Balramgarh’.

The BJP led State Government  had last year renamed ‘Gurgaon’ as ‘Gurugram’ based on the historic connection of the city with Guru Dronacharya.  It was stated that Gurgaon district derived its name from the name of Guru Dronacharya; the village was given as gurudakshina to him by his students, the Pandavas, and hence it came to be known as Guru-gram, which in course of time got distorted to Gurgaon.

Known for the promotion of Gita, Saraswati and the cow, the government had also renamed ‘Mustafabad’ village in Yamunanagar as ‘Saraswati Nagar’ claiming that old dried-up riverbed of river Saraswati existed near the village.
