The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) at Haryana’s Rohtak district would soon become the first institute to have the facility of kidney transplant in the State.
The institute will soon have facility of kidney transplant. A meeting in this regard was held by Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij at PGIMS, Rohtak on Friday. He said that doctors and students of the PGIMS, Rohtak would be imparted training for transplanting kidneys in AIIMS at New Delhi.
Vij directed Vice Chancellor of PGIMS Dr O P Kalra to take appropriate action. He said that Dr Kalra himself is specialist in Nephrology and could do good work in this direction.
The Health Minister said that for kidney transplant, the people of the state have to visit private hospitals in New Delhi or at other places, but after this facility, the people would be relieved of this problem as they could avail of this facility in their own area at lesser cost.
Vij said that the kidney transplant in any private hospital costs between Rs four and Rs five lakh, whereas in PGIMS this would be done in just Rs 50,000.
