Depressed over strained relations with her husband, a 26-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of PGIMER building on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Meenu Devi, a resident of Nayagaon. No suicide note was found from the spot.
Sources in the police said that the incident took place in the morning while Meenu, posted as clerk at Pathology Department of PGIMER, jumped from the fifth floor of AS Anand Building. Before jumping from the building, Meenu also had a verbal spat with a female colleague, added the sources.
A police team rushed her to the trauma center of PGIMER where she was declared brought dead. While police did not recover any suicide note from the spot, the family of deceased has alleged that she was suffering with depression due to problems in her married life.
The brother of deceased has stated that Meenu got married with Naresh Kumar, one year back. However soon after their marriage, Naresh started to thrash and harass her over unknown reasons. “We were also informed, several times, by her neighbours about the increasing incidents of quarrels with her husband. The disturbed married life had forced her to take the extreme step,” said brother of deceased.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered in the matter and investigation was started by the police, said Usha Rani, in-charge, Police post-PGIMER.
