People won't tolerate hurdles in way of development: Sukhbir

Published on:

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Thursday said that Punjab Congress’ “frustrated leaders who wanted to gain cheap publicity” by disrupting ‘sangat darshan’ programmes of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal should be ready to meet the people’s ire who would not allow development to be halted in the State at any cost.

“The development being unleashed in the State is like a juggernaut and that it could not be stopped by frustrated leaders of the Punjab Congress who have nothing to offer to the people,” said SAD president Sukhbir Badal, in an official statement.

“The people of the State understand how sangat darshan programmes, which allow ordinary citizens to put forward their demands to the Chief Minister, have changed their lives and resulted in instant development of their areas,” said Sukhbir.

lashing at Punjab Congress leadership for its “anti-Punjab attitude”, Sukhbir said that its leaders were not only busy in meeting Union Ministers to halt the development projects sanctioned at the instance of Chief Minister, but “they are also giving misleading statements about the State's financial status to create doubts amongst investors who wanted to invest in the state”.

Urging Congress leaders to desist from undemocratic activities, the SAD president urged them to meet Chief Minister in order to find solutions to the problems being faced by people in their areas rather than trying to stop the entire developmental process.

CBI helping UPA retain power: Sukhbir

Ferozepur: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal on Thursday said that Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was providing 24X7 services to sustain Congress-led minority UPA Government in power.

He was reacting on the Supreme Court’s observation castigating CBI after dismissing the disproportionate assets case against BSP supremo Mayawati.

“Even the Apex Court has gone to the extent of describing CBI as a ‘caged parrot’ and asked the Union Government to submit report regarding granting autonomy to the premier investigating agency,” pointed Sukhbir.

He said that after reluctantly agreeing to provide partial autonomy to CBI, now Congress-led UPA Government has sought to withdraw that affidavit realizing that the move would not allow them to use CBI for browbeating their allies in submission.

“Everybody knows that if Maya, Mulayam, lalu are providing support to ‘minority’ UPA Government, it is because of false CBI cases against them,” he added.
