Punjab Civil Medical Services (PCMS) Doctors’ Association on Tuesday staged a protest outside state Health Directorate demanding rollback of state policy to give only basic pay to the government employees for the first two years. In doctors' case, it is Rs 15,600. On a call given by PCMS Association, around 500 doctors, led by its president Gagandeep Singh, from across the state held a protest in front of Directorate of Health in Sector 34. Dr Gagandeep, addressing the gathering, said that with this protest, they have given an ultimatum to the Government to rollback the anti-employee policy otherwise they would be forced to take some radical steps.

“The Association won't hesitate to give call to complete shutdown of health services,” he said while giving three weeks’ time to the state government to rollback the decision. “Otherwise, all medico-legal services will be shut down on May 26,” he announced.
