Punjab Government on Thursday maintained that it has credited Rs10,224 crore to the accounts of the farmers and commission agents (arhtiyas) for their produce.
“The ongoing wheat procurement reached at 100,38,366 MT till Wednesday evening. Of the total purchase, the Government agencies bought 95,41,587 MT of wheat for the central pool while 3.49 lakh tonnes bought for its subsidised atta-dal scheme,” said a spokesperson of Punjab Food Department.
Giving agency-wise details, he said that Pungrain bought 16.37 lakh MT, which is 16.3 per cent, Markfed procured 20.7 lakh MT (20.3 per cent), Punsup bought 19.56 lakh MT (19.5 per cent) PSWC purchased 12.9 lakh MT (12 per cent) PAIC procured 9.64 lakh MT (9.6 per cent) and the Food Corporation of India (FCI) procured 17.68 lakh MT (17.6 per cent) of the total wheat procured in the State.
