Punjab Government on Thursday braced up to upgrade the skills of one lakh youth in this financial year to make them employable in upcoming new age industry. For the same, it has evolved a multilayered monitoring system to ensure its time-bound implementation.
Punjab Government notified the ‘Skill Development Mission’ to oversee and co-ordinate the implementation of various skill development schemes across all the departments. Spokesperson said that a skill development fund has also been set up for creating infrastructure, capacity building and supporting various skill development initiatives.
The expenses on registration, administration and management of the Mission shall be met by the Punjab Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training, which will be the administrative authority for the Mission. Spokesperson said that the Governing Council would be the supreme body taking the decisions concerning implementation of skill development programs in state. Chief Minister will be the chairman of the Council. The next layer will be State Steering Committee which will lay down the policies for the Mission.
