Punjab Government on Sunday held a meeting with the representatives of various private hospitals of the State empanelled under the Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojana.

The meeting, held on the directions of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, was taken by the senior authorities of the Department of Health and Family Welfare

under the chairpersonship of Principal Secretary (Health) Vini Mahajan.

Mahajan, accompanied by Punjab Health Systems Corporation managing director and state’s National

Health Mission’s director Hussan lal interacted with the empanelled hospitals and addressed their issues and queries on the spot.

She said that the reimbursement of claims to the empanelled hospitals was being made on the basis of their rate contract with the Insurance Company. “If any difficulty is being faced by any of the empanelled hospitals at the end of Insurance Company, they should bring the matter to the notice of senior officers of the health department immediately, so that the matter is resolved on priority,” she said.

Mahajan, however, also warned that if any empanelled hospital is found denying treatment to any beneficiary of the scheme or indulging in any other unfair practice, the same shall immediately be de-empanelled under scheme and further appropriate action shall be pursued against the erring hospital.

She emphasized that any callous attitude in providing treatment to the beneficiaries will not be tolerated at any cost.

She also exhorted the empanelled hospitals to proactively provide adequate information about the scheme to the beneficiaries, so that issues of disagreement or grievance do not arise, while adding that issues only come up when inadequate information is given or query of any beneficiary is not addressed properly by the staff of private hospitals.

Mahajan urged the hospitals to deploy dedicated and well trained staff for the purpose, who are fully aware of the scheme.
