After RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was accused of involvement in 2007 Samjhauta Express, Hyderabad Mecca Masjid and Ajmer Dargah blast, the Punjab BJP on Thursday rubbished the allegations as “baseless”.
The accusations on the RSS leader have been leveled by Swami Aseemanand, who is himself an accused in these blasts, in a magazine interview. Aseemanand had stated that Bhagwat had sanctioned these terror attacks when he was the RSS general secretary. As per the magazine, the article was based on a series of interactions held with the blasts accused. The magazine also released audio tapes and transcripts of the interview to prove its claim.
Doubting the veracity of the magazine’s interview with Aseemanand, who is currently lodged in Ambala Central Jail, the State BJP chief Kamal Sharma has dubbed the interview and audio tapes as “bundle of lies”. Sharma blamed the Congress-led Central Government for making politically-motivated attempts to defame the RSS chief just to distract the people’s attention from the scams involving its ministers, high inflation rate, and corruption.
“The Sangh never believed in the policy of violence and dividing the society. The Sangh has always adopted the path of equality and harmony,” said Sharma. State BJP president said that “attempts have been made earlier also to defame the organisation” by the Congress, and as the political conspiracy, it had earlier banned the organisation.
