To educate and train security personnel and prepare the fast-growing industry for the next level of growth, Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Shivraj Patil has urged the private security sector to set up a Security Services University in the country.

Patil, addressing the valedictory session of the ninth Security Skills and leadership Summit, suggested the Central Association of Private Security Industry (CAPSI), the apex body of private security sector, and the Security Sector Skill Development Council (SSSDC), to set up a Security Services University along the lines of Police University in Gujarat.

“The private security sector has been growing for the past few years and the industry is doing a commendable job in providing security to the society and the nation in its own way. But it is high time for the private security sector to prepare itself for the next level of growth on the back of robust education and training of security personnel,” he said. He added, “I would advise the industry to establish a security university for providing relevant education and training to up-and-coming security personnel and preparing youths of the country for meeting the requirement of the private security forces.” Notably, Raksha Shakti University is a police science university set up by the Gujarat Government, which conducts certificate, diploma and degree courses in the fields of public science and internal security.
