Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Friday said that the candidates for three by-elections in the state would be announced as soon as the schedule for by-elections is announced.

The party is confident of winning the three by-elections to the Mandi Parliamentary constituency and Fatehpur and Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly constituencies, the Chief Minister said while talking to the mediapersons here.

The statement came a day after the three-day conclave of the Himachal BJP concluded with a call for ensuring Mission Repeat in the 2022 Assembly poll and the party’s victory in three by-elections

Thakur said that the three-day conclave of Himachal BJP has provided an opportunity to the party to ponder on the achievements of the State Government and also gear up for the coming by-elections besides general elections to the State Assembly later next year. He said that detailed discussions were held with the party office bearers, MLAs and party candidates for general elections to Vidhan Sabha in 2017 during the conclave. A meeting was also held with Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of various Boards and Corporations.

The conclave was fruitful in preparing the roadmap for 2022 Vidhan Sabha elections, he added.

Commenting on the COVID-19 situation, the Chief Minister said that the cases of COVID are gradually declining which is a sign of relief to the people of the state.

He said that the Government is fully aware of the situation and is ensuring that no laxity and casualness is adopted. The pace of COVID vaccination would also be speeded up, he added.
