Amid the escalating war of words between Punjab and Haryana Governments after apex court’s decision on Sutlej Yamuna link (SYl) canal, Haryana Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu on Friday said all political
parties should play a constructive role for the implementation of SC’s decision on the issue of SYl, which is in favour of Haryana.
“As per the decision, construction of the SYl canal should be undertaken so as to make it functional. This is the final decision of the Supreme Court which would be acceptable to all. All should respect the SC’s decision and make statements in accordance with the law, said Capt Abhimanyu, while addressing a Press conference here.
Taking a dig on the former Chief Minister Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda for his wavering attitude on this issue, he said that Hooda should apologise from people as he, during his 10 years Congress regime, had not even made a little effort for early hearing and completion of the SYl canal.
The Cabinet Minister also questioned that under what kind of pressure was Hooda and why did he not understand the gravity of this vital issue.
Had he considered it in the interest of the people of the state, the court’s decision could have been announced earlier, added the Minister, said he.
