Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, along with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, will inaugurate the state-of-the-art armed forced training institute for girls — Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute — on Saturday.
“The unique initiative of the Punjab Government in the form of Mai Bhago Institute would act as a boon for the girls of state,” said Mohali Deputy Commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu on Friday, after reviewing the preparations for the inauguration.
The institute has been constructed at a cost of Rs12 crore in Mohali’s Sector-66 and is spread over 8.82 acres.
“The institute would prepare girls, hailing from Punjab, for recruitment in the armed forces,” he said.
