Parents demand mechanism to check fee hike in Haryana schools

Published on:

Haryana Parents Forum for Education has demanded setting up a permanent mechanism to keep a check on the fee hike by the private schools in the State.

Raising the matter in a Press conference in Chandigarh, the forum said that the parents were feeling embarrassed due to hefty fee structures of some private schools and their wards facing mental trauma in schools.

Ramesh Kumar Rana, State president of the forum, said that the issue of exorbitant fee structures of some private schools and regular fee hikes, was time and again brought to the notice of the State Government but no concrete action has been taken. He said that the forum had to move Punjab and Haryana High Court against fee hike by five private schools of Faridabad. He informed that the High Court had directed the Faridabad schools not to expel any student or striking off his name from rolls of the school due to non-payment of enhanced fee.

Rana said that government should take justification from private schools for hiking the fee by 20 to 25 percent every year. The forum has also demanded removal of annual charges, insurance, development charges, infrastructure charges, computer charges, smart class charges, magazine charges etc.   Chandigarh
