Haryana Transport Minister Krishan Lal Panwar on Sunday clarified that there is no hike in the fare of buses in the State.
From 2016 till date, the fare of ordinary buses is only 85 paise per km, which has not been hiked, he said.
Panwar clarified that the neighbouring state of Punjab, has hiked the fare of ordinary buses operated in their area by 5 paise per km by issuing a notification on August 19, 2019, which is now increased to 114 paise per kilometer from 109 paise per kilometer.
He said that the buses going through the route of any state are charged the bus fare applicable within that state, irrespective of the state the buses belong to.
Therefore, according to the rules, the hiked bus fare by the state of Punjab would only be applicable on buses going through the Punjab region and the buses which operate in the Haryana region would not have any effect of this increase, he added.
