The Punjab Government on Friday sort out the long pending issues of Pyrolytic Industry by constituting a high-level committee led by the State Industries Secretary. The official has been asked to issue no objection certificates (NOCs) after physical verification of units by September 10.
The decision has been taken by the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal while presiding over a meeting of delegation of Tyre Pyrolysis Association wherein he patiently heard the grievances of industry pertaining with Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB).
The delegation led by Association president Satpal Gupta apprised Sukhbir that their units have been sealed by the PPCB due to apprehensions of huge pollution hazards, higher risks of fire incidents and flouting pollution control norms in the State. The Association also demanded to issue detailed guidelines prepared by PPCB for units extracting fuel oil from scrap tyres using pyrolysis.
Sukhbir, after a detailed discussion with the delegation, directed Industries Secretary DP Reddy to lead a committee comprised of Director Factories, Town and Country Planner, GM Industries and Chief Fire Officer for physical verification of existing 40 to 50 tyre pyrolysis units.
He also directed that physical verification should be completed before September 10 and units following the parameters of PPCB and Fire Department should not be sealed. Sukhbir further said that the units complying with the laid down pollution norms would get on the spot NOCs.
He also directed that in future the tyre pyrolysis units would be setup only in designated areas including Focal Points and Industrial Zones.
