A contract employee working at Panchayat Bhawan here, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his office on Wednesday morning. Family members have suspected foul play.
The deceased Baljit Singh, a resident of Sector-56 was working as a security officer at Panchayat Bhawan Sector-28 on contract basis.
Baljit was missing from his residence since Tuesday night. The family members of the deceased searched for him till late in the night but could not locate him.
On Wednesday morning, the family members received a phone call from Panchayat Bhawan, stating that the dead body of Baljit is lying at his office.
Initially, the family members thought it to be a natural death but later saw several cut marks on the body. They informed the police alleging that Baljit had been murdered.
“A case on the statement of family member of deceased has been registered at police station Sector-26.
Further investigation will resume after police receives postmortem report of the deceased,” said Surjeet Malik, DSP, UT police.
