A four-member delegation from Pakistan on Sunday crossed over to India for three days official tour to visit renowned site of Sabarmati Riverfront Development Project (SRDP) in Ahmedabad.
Pakistani delegation comprises lahore Commissioner Rashid Mehmood, lahore Development Authority (lDA) Director-General Ahad Khan Cheema, and two other members. Notably, the lDA has initiated work related to feasibility of Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project (RRUDP) under technical assistance of a foreign consultancy firm and the core objective of the Pakistan delegation is to study the SRDP and replicate it (if viable) in lahore.
The Pakistani delegation is expected to reach Ahmedabad on Monday and visit the SRDP. They would return to Delhi on July 22 and fly home the next day. Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had shown interest in SRDP after he learnt about it and had asked the officials to visit it at the earliest. The visit was earlier scheduled during the second week of May this year but it was postponed due to officials’ other assignments.
